The Pitstop at Kintail
About This Spot
Pulling up to The Pitstop at Kintail, the first thing that settles around you is a quiet kind of calm, edged with the soft bustle of friendly voices and gentle clinking of cups. Nestled in the scenic charm of Ault a’Chruinn, just outside Kyle of Lochalsh, this spot embraces you like an old companion—a cozy, unhurried place where the pace slows to match the sweeping views beyond the windows. Whether it’s the crisp freshness of the Highland air or the steady hum of contented visitors, it’s a setting that invites you to pause and simply be.
The atmosphere here is one of relaxed warmth, a mix of local familiarity and genuine hospitality. You’ll find people drawn to linger around the inviting outdoor picnic tables when the weather lends itself, sharing stories or comfortable silences while soaking in the breathtaking panorama. Inside, the space feels welcoming, with the comforting aromas of fresh-brewed coffee and hearty cooking weaving through the air—every detail feels quietly considered, without fanfare, just honest care.
The menu at The Pitstop is less about formal dining and more about soulful, satisfying moments of nourishment. It offers a robust selection that leans into classic pleasures: generous burgers with thoughtfully balanced sides, soups that warm you like an old blanket, and fresh-baked breads that speak to simple goodness. Each dish carries the rhythm of the place—hearty, approachable, and made for sharing or savoring in your own time. The coffee, too, emerges as a key player in the experience, a steady companion to morning chats or afternoon reflections.
What sets The Pitstop apart is how the food and setting meld into a single experience, one that feels more like a cherished ritual than a meal. Guests often note the ease of being here—the friendly staff who greet you not as strangers but as welcomed visitors, the ample parking that takes the fuss out of arrival, and the thoughtful balance between fresh local offerings and familiar comfort. It’s a place to refuel bodies and spirits alike, with views that linger long after the last bite, reminding you of why moments like these matter.

This is better than 5 stars. Magnificent. The service is delightful, the portions are perfect (maybe too much) and the food superb. And I’ve not even mentioned the view from the tables out front might be as fine as any restaurant on the planet.

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant! We were fortunate enough to call here for some delicious food. The staff are so friendly and happy to welcome you, The view is spectacular and there are outside picnic tables for when the weather permits. We were so impressed, we returned the next day to sample some more delicious food and cakes.

We made a quick stop to eat some lunch and it was amazing. The view is breathtaking, the staff was lovely and the food was good. The prices were reasonable too (£35.80 for 2 burgers and 2 softs). Would definetely recommend!

My husband and I ordered two breakfast rolls and two hot drinks. Everything was delicious and reasonably priced. Service was great! Lots of parking available.

Strongly recommended! The interior was nice and homey, the staff was attentive and polite, and the food was very satisfactory. In particular the highlander pizza, the salmon salad, and the carrot and pistachio cake, they were really appreciated

Decent pitstop for breakfast. Quite ample menu, we opted for a traditional Scottish porridge which was great, and we appreciated the staff making one porridge also on oat milk (which is not traditional way of making it). We also had toasts which was just standard white bread toast. We appreciated the flexibility to order 5 eggs on the side. The place however was really cold, but thats not unusual in Scotland apparently.

Great little cafe with a great view. Stopped in today on way from Skye to Fort William. Very warm welcome and some chat from the staff. Was a little sad they don’t do a breakfast and just breakfast rolls but had 2 double breakfast rolls (bacon&egg and black pudding&egg) both were excellent. Wife had sausage and tattie scone roll and said it was also very good. If this was more local to me I would absolutely be back. Don’t miss this place out.
